MANCHESTER - Viola D. (Barrette) Cote, 96, of Manchester, died Dec. 17, 2012, at Carlyle Place after a period of declining health.

She was born in Manchester on Feb. 16, 1916, the daughter of Isaie and Marie Louise (Hebert) Boisvert. She was a lifelong resident of Manchester.

Viola worked with her first husband, Roger Barrette, at the Roger Barrett Co. until retiring in 1969.

She was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards. She also loved to tell jokes and was always the life of the party.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be fondly remembered.

Viola was a communicant of St. Pius X Church.

She was married to Roger Barrette until his death in 1969, and later married Albert Cote, until his death 1989. In addition, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lorraine (Beaulieu) Metivier in 1988; a granddaughter, Diane E. Metivier in 1981; and two sons-in-law, Armand M. Beaulieu in 1964 and Richard J. Maynard, who died in August of this year.

She leaves three children, Robert R. Barrette and his wife Kay, of Green Valley, Ariz., Muriel L. Maynard of Manchester and Paul R. Barrette and his wife Gail, of Bedford; a son in-law, Bert Metivier and his wife Jeannine, of Manchester; two stepsons, Albert Cote and Norman Cote of California; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her companion of many years, Donald Matthews.

services: Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., Manchester.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 575 Candia Road, Manchester. Committal prayers will follow in Mount Calvary Mausoleum. 474 Goffstown Road, Manchester.

The family has requested that flowers be omitted and that memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905
