DEERING - Wayne Hersey, 87, died peacefully after a brief illness on Dec. 14, 2013, in New London Hospital.

He was born in Goffstown on Oct. 31, 1926, the son of Everett and Margery (Turner) Hersey. Wayne spent most of his life in New Hampshire, raising his family in Bedford with his loving wife, Florence (Meloon) Hersey. He served his country in the Seabees during World War II and received the Victory Medal. Wayne belonged to the VFW in Milford.

Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Florence; a daughter, Margie Jacques, and her husband, Gary; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Harold Hersey; and a sister, Marion Rygh.
