MANCHESTER -- William J. "Bill" Kerry, 91, died July 2, 2009, at Hackett Hill Healthcare Center in Hooksett after a brief illness.

He was born in Springfield, Mass., on Jan. 9, 1918, son of William J. and Mary E. Kerry.

Mr. Kerry graduated from the Boston School of Pharmacy and was a registered pharmacist. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a captain in the medical division.

He was a resident of Manchester since 1952. After working for several years as a pharmacist, he was employed with E.R. Squibb from 1951 until retirement in 1989.

He began employment as a sales representative and then progressed to a clinical research associate, coordinating controlled testing of new drugs being considered for public distribution.

He was a member of Saint Catherine Church, and was active with the Knights of Columbus for many years. He enjoyed astronomy and was a volunteer with the Christa McAuliffe Planetarium after his retirement.

IN HIS LIFE: Family members include his loving wife of 63 years, Dorothy A. (Murphy) Kerry, of Manchester; his two sons William "Bill" Kerry and his wife, Linda, of Virginia, and Robert "Bob" Kerry and his wife, Helen, of Florida; his daughter Patricia Guilmette and her husband, Raymond, of New Mexico; seven grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. with a service to follow at 6 p.m. at McHugh Funeral Home, 283 Hanover St., corner of Beech Street, Manchester.

Burial will be Thursday in St. Thomas Cemetery, Springfield, Mass.
