Anthony Marino Obituary

Anthony J. Marino 1938 - 2021
UTICA - Mr. Anthony J. Marino, age 82, was reunited with his wife, Frances when he passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Born in Utica on July 10, 1938, Tony was the son of the late Rocco and Mary (Guerra) Marino. He was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School/Class of 1956 and went on to the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in chemistry. On July 30, 1960 he married the former Frances T. Juliano with whom he shared a special and unique love during their 52 years together, prior to her passing on October 15, 2012. Although his "Hun" preceded him, he never stopped loving her, and his children take solace that they are reunited once again.
Tony began his professional career at Special Metals in Utica where he worked in his area of specialization as a metallurgist. His savant like knowledge of metals and alloys led him to a position with Utica Alloys, where he remained for more than 40 years as an invaluable member of the company. He retired in 2014 after an outstanding career, to transition to an even greater calling, a full-time dad and papa!
He lived each day with joy for his family and especially his grandkids and great grandkids. He was a family man, a true gentleman, and a wonderful friend to so many. As a dad, he was an amazing provider, and when his wife passed, he "picked up the ball she carried so gracefully and sprinted with it" because he was determined to do his very best to honor her legacy. As a Papa, he was selfless because he had the time and the love to give equal, individual attention to each of his grandkids and great grandkids. He lived for them, never said no to them, and followed each of them to their horseback ridings (all the way to Florida), plays and concerts, baseball games, gymnastics meets and taekwondo events. Baseball was his game, and he cherished his grandsons' youth travel team, "The Utica Hurricanes". That group became family and he was humbled by the endearing moniker of "Papa" given to him by the team, all the other grandparents, parents, and kids, alike. He really loved his Sunday Mass as a parishioner of St. Mary of Mt. Carmel/Blessed Sacrament Parish, and he was very charitable to so many other organizations.
Anthony will remain in the hearts of his children and their loves, Anthony J. Marino, Cynthia Marino and David Garcia, MaryJo Marino, Frank Marino and Michelle Fabbio, James Marino and Amanda Falange, and Joseph A. and Danielle Marino; he was an inspiration to his grandchildren, Dia and David Viscardi, Andrea Marino/USCG, Frangelia Marino, Melissa DeBiase and fiancé Kyle, Robert DeBiase, and Joey Jr., Anthony Michael, Christopher, and Isabella Marino; great-grandchildren, Juliana Clemente, Genero Clemente, Roman Anthony DeBiase, James Viscardi, and Drew Viscardi and his special buddies Denisio and Donato Colon; as well as his brother, Rocco Marino. He also leaves behind his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins; in-laws, Ann Marie Tucciarone, Rose Primarolo, and Antoinette Kelly; and his extended family with whom he shared a very close bond, Mike and Mary Theresa Mezzanini, and Anna "Nonnie Cooks" Mezzanini. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Betty Jane and Vincent F. Femia Sr., James Juliano, Frank and Adeline Juliano, John and Sofia "Irene" Juliano, Angelo Tucciarone, Nick Primarolo Sr., and Michael Kelly.
The family is grateful for the congeniality and medical care and comfort Tony received from Dr. Fred Talarico and Patricia Rosati/NP over the years, and Dr. Jorge L. Ferreiro, and Dr. Charles Hobaica for their excellent medical treatment, and the personnel of the Visiting Nurse Association, especially Jim, for his compassionate care.
Funeral Services and Entombment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of floral offerings, please consider memorial contributions in Anthony's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital online at https://www.stjude.org or the Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CABVI) online at https://www.cabvi.org or the Stevens-Swan Humane Society at https://stevens-swan.org, in honor of his "grand-dogs".
Anthony's funeral service and Entombment beside his wife in Christ Our Savior Mausoleum in Calvary Cemetery were held at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave.

Marino Family
My son Jordan met "Papa" coaching his grandkids and came home raving about him. When I had the honor of helping him medically along with Dr Ferreiro, the man just jumps into your heart.
I will truly miss and pray for him

We were the closest buddies can get at TR Proctor '52-'56 along with Rock, Tony, Si, . Spent many nights cruisin' Utica, New Hartford and Whitesboro streets Talking, listening to rock and jazz on the radio, wolf whistling and frequently a Kewpee stop for burger & shake. Tony's mom & dad always left the door open for us if we wanted to crash for awhile. My sincere condolences to children, grand-children and great grand-children of the finest of men.
Rest In Peace Tony.
