I first met Mr D when I was a little girl. My mom was a teacher at WCS and I spent a lot of time with her at the school. She worked very closely with Mr D on senior activities as I played in her and Mr D's classrooms. He was always so sweet to me. Most times he had some sweets but one thing he always had was a great sense of humor. I always remember having such a great time around him. My mom would tell me stories about when he was HER teacher in high school. Then I got to have Mr D as my own teacher and he still was as caring as he was when I was a little girl. My mom and Mr D remained good friends well after my mom retired from teaching. She would keep me updated as to how he was doing and I was so sad to hear about his passing. He was a beautiful and genuine soul. And I consider myself very lucky to have known him as people like him are few and far between. May he be at peace with the angels, now.

Mr D was one of a kind. Always willing to help his students--academically or personally. He had the biggest heart of anyone I know. His passing has left the world emptier, but heaven has gained a great man. Godspeed, Mr D. You are missed more than you'll ever know. Melissa (Goodwin) Green, class of 96.

I am one of D's students from the class of 1973. Mr D was an example of what a teacher should be. He cared deeply for his students and the school. He always made time for us. Teaching us in many ways, through long discussions, through music, through food and with his ready laugh and great smile. I wish I could put into words everything he meant to us. My sincere condolences.

Mr D was one of the most memorable teachers at Waterville school. He definitely loved his students and had a very caring spirit. I'll never forget the guys jumping onto his back sometimes 3 at a time while he walked down the hallway, kids still attached, and he wore the biggest smile. Rest peacefully Mr D. You were one of the best!
