WHITESBORO - Mrs. Theresa N. (Granato) Scavo, age 94, passed away peacefully on this precious Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
Theresa was born at home in Whitesboro on Christmas Day, in 1922, the daughter of the late Giuseppe and Vincenzina (Aceto) Granato. Raised and educated locally, she was a graduate of Whitesboro High School/Class of 1941, the 2nd graduating class of the high school. She was a woman ahead of her time, pursuing higher education in business and career employment outside of the home. On June 28, 1947, she married Bruno Scavo with whom she shared 46 years and 3 children. Bruno passed away on January 16, 1994.
Theresa was a natural caregiver, selfless in action and thought. She took pride in her home and found great joy in welcoming family and friends, and extending her traditional Italian hospitality.
Theresa enjoyed visiting Vernon Downs and making good friends. She loved lively music and dancing. She was happiest when surrounded by people. She would light up any room with her smile and sense of humor.
Theresa is survived by her children and their loves, Bruce Scavo and companion Pam, Natalie Massita and former son-in-law Dominic, Leslie Paul and partner Eric. Close to her heart was the memory of her son-in-law, David Paul who passed away in 2006. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren, Michelle Paul, Brian Paul, and Michael Scavo. She was predeceased by her later in life companion Bruce Miller. She will also be missed by her grand-doggies, Maxwell and Misty.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to relatives, friends, and health care workers who took extra care and time for Theresa.
Visitation will be held Thursday (today) from 5:30-7:30 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Please consider a memorial donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital online at https://www.stjude.org; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Theresa's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence on Thursday evening at 7:30 at the conclusion of visitation with Rev. Joseph Salerno and con-celebrant Pastor Martin officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
