Ila Jean "Jeanie" McQuillan, of Williamsburg, passed away on Nov. 8, 2012. Born in Ohio on Jan. 15, 1940, Jeanie was a resident of Hampton. For more than fifty years.
She worked at Sears Roebuck for 20 years, retiring in 1985. She then became President of Oltimers, Inc., a decorating and remodeling company that she and her husband, Richard "Mac" operated. Then came another retirement and a lifelong dream of breeding and raising Arabian horses.
In 1989 Oltimers, Inc. bought a large horse boarding stable on Big Bethel Road in Hampton. They ran a family-oriented stable, giving riding lessons and holding horse shows. They sold the stable in 2002. Jeanie stayed busy with her arts and crafts projects, and in 2009 they moved to their ultimate retirement home in Williamsburg.
Jeanie is survived by her husband, Richard; a sister, Donna Wortman in Ohio; a son, Mike McComb in Michigan; three stepsons: Ricky McQuillan, Nelson McQuillan (Jenny) and James McQuillan (Sherri), all of the Tidewater area. She is also survived by several grandchildren and one very special great-granddaughter.
Arrangements have not been finalized. Friends and family are welcome to come by the home and celebrate her life. Online condolences may be expressed at www.nelsencares.com and www.vagazette.com

I met Jeannie in 1991 when she and Mac went to Chincoteague to pick up my new pony, Sunny. Sunny was a pain but Jeannie loved her and always treated her as one of her own. I loved working the horse shows with her. I know that she is up in Heaven with all the horses she cared for surrounding her.
