Obituary Condolences

Charles F. DeClerck Jr., 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013. He was born on Sept. 23, 1922, in Somerville, Mass., to the late Charles F. and Frances L. (Clarke) DeClerck.
Mr. DeClerck is survived by his three children, Maureen Moreno and her husband, Frank, of Kennebunk, Maine, Charles DeClerck and his wife, Beth, of Williamsburg, and Jeffrey DeClerck and his wife, Colleen, of Moosup, Conn. Additionally, there are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. DeClerck was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Jeanne; his brother, Jack; his sister, Lorraine Curley; and two sons, John and Kenneth.
A 1940 graduate of Quincy High School, he enlisted in the Navy as an aviation machinist's mate. Later selected for flight training, he was stationed at the University of Georgia and Naval Air Station, Memphis, Tenn., training in the N3N-3 (Yellow Peril), the N2S Stearman, the Navy SNJ, and the PB4y Catalina. He had the chance to relive those days on his 90th birthday when his family arranged for him to take a ride in a 1942 WACO ZPF-7 biplane where he got to take the controls once again.
Starting out as a tool designer with Watertown Arsenal, Mr. DeClerck worked his way up to a senior executive with Sperry Gyroscope (later Unisys Corp.). Even in retirement, he kept busy running his own computer consultant business.
Funeral services will be at Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main Street, Danielson, Conn., on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. CT.
