David was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He was so generous in so many ways to help non-profits in the community. His willingness and desire to share his faith with anyone who would listen is what I will always remember most. God bless his soul. Prayers for peace and love for his family.

I have know David since 1964, soon after I moved to Williamsburg. He was in construction then, as was Duke. I have known him, his parents and Darrell for a long time. David was a dreamer, starting several businesses, some he sold,, others he was still running. Was generous to help others. Taking water, hay, and Ice, when needed in tragedies that happen. Hurricanes, drought, floods, snow. Not just in our area. David, his Mom, Darrell, Rae, and others were part of Handy Ice & Home town water. David you will not be forgotten in Williamsburg and by others you helped. To Family & Close Friend, I am so very sad of David's passing. He fought a hard fight. Now is time to share the good memories you have with other. God bless David's Family and Close friend. Jackie Diggs

Mr. David Hooker was like a Dad to me, whom I called Papa David. He showed such a fatherly love and care to me and my 2 sisters. He was a great man, loving, fun, generous, he knew hwo to live life in a different way. I was so blessed to be around him and learn the creativity and wisdom. He is at the best place, enjoying Jesus, God and all his family and friends who is in the Heaven. I love you Papa David forever

I have known David since before high school. We were in high school together although he was 4 years older but he still treated me as all other underclassman as equals And ready to lend a helping hand If needed. I worked for David at his construction company in the seventies learned a lot from him about operating heavy equipment And other things involved with construction industry that I stillusetothis day. Everyone that has ever worked in construction knows about the lean times but David always made sure there was something for me to do to make sure I Could make my hours. This is the type person David always was concerned about employees or any other friends. All the fine things everybody has to say is a tribute to a really great man thar David was. In my humble opinion we the alumni of James Blair lost one of the best men that ever walked those halls in David. You will be missed my friend but never forgotten. Darrel and all the family and friends of David my heart hurts with you.. R I P my old friend

David was the kind, sweet an joy to talk with about the Lord. He and his brother Darryl were always a joy to see come into the office. No matter how bad he felt he always had a kind word and something to say about JESUS. Our friendship was a blessing to me and I will truly miss you. I know you knew the Lord and I know you are now in sweet rest. I ask God's blessing over your family and Darryl that His grace and mercy cover and strengthen them all day by day.

David was a very special person to my entire family, he was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and our friendship started a long time ago, not only did he go to school with my brother, he was one of the ushers in my wedding. There are not enough words to say for such a caring person. He will be greatly missed, the world would be a better place if more people were like David! Heaven has gained another Angel and he will never be forgotten! May he Rest In Peace and his memory be eternal.

We met David years ago, he came in our restaurant everyday for lunch. He became part of our family and treated us all like we were part of his family. He was an amazing man, always contributed to the community, and an inspiration for others.

HEAVEN NOW HAS A TRUE ANGEL. I DOUBT DAVID EVER SAID NO TO ANYONE WHO WANTED HELP. HE WAS ALWAYS CONTRIBUTING TO SOMETHING OR TREATING SOMEONE TO SOMETHING. I FIRST MET DAVID WHEN I WORKED FOR HIS CPA FIRM AND OVER THE YEARS HE WAS THE SWEETEST CLIENT WE HAD AND ALWAYS FUNNY AND IN A GOOD MOOD! I CANNOT BEGIN TO IMAGINE HIS PAIN IN HIS COURAGEOUS BATTLE OVER THE YEARS, BUT HE CAN NOW REST IN PEACE AS AN ANGEL.

Darrell, my heart hurts for you and your family for this loss. As you may know, there is a soft spot in my heart for David. What a rascal he was. He could beat a point into oblivion and when he was on a mission there was no stopping him. He was a hard worker and was rarely still. His was always ready to laugh. He grew into one of the most giving and loving people I have ever known. He loved God, his family and community with a heart-filled passion that stood out. The world is a better place because he lived.
