My lovely neighbour, a great civil rights worker and friend to all the local children and animals. He was kind to my children and had a special friendship with my aging dog. You will be well remembered and missed. You made our community better.

The passing of Dr. Khaki is a great loss for Vancouverites and all of his friends in Canada and overseas. His contribution to peace and understanding among all ethnic and religious communities will endure and bear fruit. We need more people with the mindset of Dr. Khaki to continue his work.

Aside from admiring his work, Aziz was a wonderful neighbour to us and brought joy to our lives with the way he enjoyed and sympathized with our old dog Puzzle. I hope remembering how loved he was by the children in our community and respected for his work by the broader world, brings you comfort.

Dear Aziz, I am very saddened by news of your departure from this life. It was a great honor to work by your side through three prime ministers and many Ministers of Multiculturalism, and to see how you moved and motivated so many other antiracist advocates to join our common cause. You were a Canadian who carried the torch for all, and a proud Muslim who stood up against hate and racism long before other Muslims in our country felt compelled to follow your path in making ours a more compassionate and equitable society. So long, my fellow advocate, I am so honored to have known you, served with you and learned from you.
