Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Sep. 6 to Sep. 7, 2008.

PICKARD - Elsie Passed away peacefully at the Buchanan Care Lodge in New Westminster, July 30, 2008. She is remembered fondly by her family: husband, Jack; daughter, Brenda; son, Gary, his wife, Jane and their two children Jenina and Joshua; surviving siblings, brother Ivar Lorentzen and his wife Peggy of Langley, B.C. and sister Ally Peterson of Fresno California; and deceased brother Koree Lorentzen of Pender Harbour B.C. Many will remember Elsie briskly taking her walks through New Westminster's picturesque neighbourhoods, coffee at the Quay or Starbucks. She and her husband lived on Durham St. for over 60 years in a quaint house built by John Pickard, Senior. Husband, Jack, now resides at George Derby Care Center for Veterans. The family graciously requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Society or Salvation Army - New Westminster. A small service was held for the immediate family.

Auntie Elsie was always welcoming and warm, and will forever occupy a special place in my heart and memories. Hugs to all the rest of her family - remember the good times.

We share in the sorrow of the loss of Elsie. She a gracious lady and a wonderful sister and aunt, great-aunt and great, great aunt. She was someone we all could depend on to be with us to share in our joys and share the burden of our sorrows. We all have wonderful memories of her visits and the joy she brought us all. She will be missed greatly. We love you, Aunty Elsie. All of us in California---Ally Peterson, Shari and Rod Paloutzian, Karen and John Pritchett. Hi Dana,
My sympathies to you and your family. While logically one can say that your mother may be better off released from this life after a lengthy illness, it still is a major loss for those left behind.

Thinking of you.
