BLAIR Ernest Hamilton Ernest Hamilton Blair passed away peacefully, and surrounded by family, on September 27th. Ernie was born in Winnipeg in 1920. He served in the RCAF during WWII and spent most of his working life as a building inspector and property manager with the City of Vancouver. As husband, brother, dad, granddad and papa, he made his mark on the world with an infectious smile and a youthful spirit. From building cabins to watching landslides, from rubbing elbows with movie stars to dancing to his favourite tunes, from center ice to the soccer pitch, from swimming pools to riding rings, from graduations to recitals, from the 19th green to looking into the eyes of the newest generation, from quiet holiday gatherings to grand family affairs, his smiling face was always in the crowd and his flashbulb always in our faces. The images we hold dear most often came from his hands. Ernie is reunited with his sisters Dodie, Maggie, Betty and Helen. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy and is remembered by their four children: Diane (John), Bob (Robin), Sharyn (Dan) and Susan (Wayne) and grandchildren: Laura (Jay), Chris (Lisa), Paul (Tricia), Brad (Claudine), Ryan, Pamela (Jeremy) and Carling and great-grandchildren: Riley, Carter, Leah, Alexis and Liam. Ernie is survived by his loving wife Betty, and known as "papa" to her two children: Michael (Diane) and Brigit (Angelo) and granddaughters: Nicole, Tia, Alison and Sarah. With a great big hug, we promise to keep our cameras handy and our albums full until we meet again. The entire family also thanks staff at the George Derby Centre - Main South - for their kind hearts and caring ways over the past few months. Ernie will be remembered at an open service at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 10th at Deer Lake United Church, 3150 Sperling Avenue, Burnaby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of British Columbia.

Uncle Ernie was the patriarch of the Blair family. His nieces and nephews knew they could go to him for a kind word, a shoulder to cry on or an infectious smile at the end of the day. He held court for all of us and we will miss his presence. God speed,
Stephanie, Rod, Kathy, Kim, Terri, Bruce, Michael, Wendy, Matthew and Craig
