Lawrence Olaf Odne

ODNE _ Lawrence (Slim), Olaf passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 24, 2005, in Surrey Memorial Hospital with family by his side. He was born January 1, 1935, in Watrous, Saskatchewan to pioneering parents and is predeceased by his father John in 1957, brother John Alvin in June 1978, and sister June in February 2004. He is survived by his mother Selma (age 98), and siblings Gladys, Harold (Nadia), Mabel (Norman), Marian, Ronald (Heather), Allan (Gail) and Myron (Fern), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Slim was a longtime member of the Operating Engineers Union, Local 115, and worked on many of the early large projects built in Northern B.C. and the Lower Mainland. He will be sadly missed by his loving, large extended Family, friends, and his pals at the "office", special thanks to Drs. Ed Kostaschuk, Kim Chi, and the nurses at CCABC, the Home Care nurses, as well as neighbours and friends who kept watch and visited him at his home and hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the BC Cancer Foundation, Prostate Cancer Research, #200 - 601 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC V5Z 4C2.
