GROZINA, Stanley
November 6, 1937-April 29, 2014
After 76 years of a very full life Stanley passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family – his partner of 17 years Alice, his daughter Irene (Randy), his grandchildren Jamie and Chad, and his sisters Maritza and Ivanka. He is also survived by nieces and nephews in Slovenia and a large and loving family in the Philippines. After emigrating from Slovenia in 1956 with $20 to his name, Stan established a successful chrome plating business in Winnipeg. Always up for adventure, he sold that business and went on to own the The Cave Nightclub in Vancouver until it closed in 1981. From then, he settled in False Creek and East Vancouver where he worked as a carpenter, builder, and inventor. Above all, he will be remembered as a gardener, polka partner, chef, and storyteller with a hearty laugh and infectious spirit. Memorial services will be held at Oceanview Funeral Home, 4000 Imperial St. Burnaby, with a viewing on Saturday May 3rd from 7-9pm and a memorial service on Sunday May 4th, from 10-11am. The family asks that donations be made to the BC Cancer Society in lieu of flowers. Condolences may be offered at www.oceanviewfuneral.com

I was so sad to hear of your passing Dear Stand,and often go thru my album of photo's from the Cave where i worked for you and was also your room mate,we shared many laugh's and you certainly where a good cook ,although we remained in contact afterwards outings ,time did go by where we lost touch .but you where always in my thoughts then ,and will remaine apart of my beautiful memories for always , thanks Stanley for that.see you again someday MOMMY .

Loved Stan. Got to know him in the late 1970s. I attended The Cave weekly as part of Zarbie Bates' entourage. We were there every night when certain acts performed (such as Paul Revere and the Raiders, Society of Seven, Morris Bates, Brandon Wilf etc.). Wonderful, wonderful memories. Damn, I miss The Cave...

I was saddened to hear of Stans passing.I remember the good times we had at the Cave as well as other functions. I can still see his boyish grin and hear his laugh. Like a lot of the acts he booked he was a class act himself. He will be missed by many. My heartfelt condolences to his family.
