Rachel Sharman Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Nov. 5 to Nov. 7, 2009.

SHARMAN Rachel Marie May 17th, 1990 - October 31st, 2009 It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of our cherished daughter and sister Rachel Marie Sharman. From the moment she entered our lives she brought a sparkle and sense of joy that we will carry in our hearts forever. Rachel was a loyal friend and was loved by so many. She had a strong sense of justice, felt things deeply and regardless of the personal cost she always championed the underdog. We will miss her beautiful smile. Rachel embraced challenge, enjoyed competition and had a wonderful sense of adventure yet she was as comfortable curled up with a book in the corner as she was fearlessly flying down a mountain on skis. Whether it was in her photography, her sense of fashion or in her art, Rachel achieved her goals with a stubborn determination. Rachel is survived by her parents Doran and Annmarie Sharman, sister Caitlin, grandparents Robert (Bob) and Dorothy Sharman and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rachel Sharman Memorial Fund at any branch of the North Shore Credit Union. The recipient of this fund to be determined. A service for Rachel is to be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2:00 pm, at the North Lonsdale United Church, 3380 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver.

Rachel was in sewing with me from when she stared until I graduated the year before her.
She'd ask how I was everyday, and always had wonderful things to say about everyone's work. She'd bring her projects over and ask what we thought the moment it actually looked like a piece of clothing.

She was talented in so many ways, and though we weren't overly close she did mean a lot to me as a friend.

She will be missed and remembered by everyone for the stong and wonderful person she became. I wish your family nothing but love and support through this period.

Rachel was someone I would never hesitate to approach at school just in search of a good conversation. Sometimes we would walk fourty minutes just to get up that hill and home at the end of the day . We'd talk about everything and nothing until we got to the end of Frames, where I'd wonder how we got home so fast. I'll always remember Rachel as who she was and I'll cherish the times we shared.

Rachel and I went to highschool and graduated together. I will always remember her bright smile and loving ways. She could make anyone feel welcome in any situation. We took all the same sewing classes from gr.10 to gr.12, she always lit up the class with amazing stories and cool ideas for new projects, I even wore one of the shirts she made in our gr 11 fashion show( I loved it so much I made the same one!)I will always remember her, her great fashion, photography and smile. Thank you Rachel for being there, I will miss our little talks. Forever and Always
Rest in Peace.

My memories of Rachel are all very positive. I loved skiing with her and the team really would not have been the same without her. She was always kind, she had a great sense of humor and she was brave. Rachel's sense of adventure was incredible and I loved spending time with her.
I cannot imagine the grief Rachel's family is feeling at this time. I hope you can find solace in the lives Rachel touched and the people sending you their love, as I know there are many. Please accept my greatest sympathy.

Annmarie, Doran and Caitlin,
Rachel was always a bright light on every occasion we crossed paths, a radiant young lady that made me smile and enjoy her presence as she breezed in and out of the office, or gave me a wave and a smile from the car. She had a fabulous sense of humour and a laugh that gave you peace every time you heard it. I will miss her. My deepest sympathies to you and the rest of the family, I can not even imagine the heartache that you must all feel.

Annmarie, Doran and Caitlin,
We haven't seen each other for sometime and hearing the news of Rachel was such a shock. The kids (and parents) had so much fun in the Mt. Seymour Ski Club and I will always remember little Rachel as such a happy easy go lucky little girl who had no fear racing down the slopes. Keep her memory dear to your heart and always remember the joy she brought to you as a daughter, sister and granddaughter.

Rachel could inspire anyone to shoot for their dreams, she was the kindest, most considerate and thoughtful person (she even let me share her sewing 12 cubby with her, even knowing I’m the messiest person ever- she never once got mad at me when our cubby overflowed!!!). Rachel has brought so many laughs and so much happiness into my life. I can only remember wonderful things of this amazing and talented girl. You will never be forgotten and will always be apart of my heart.

My beautiful friend, you had the power of washing away my worries and giving me strength. You were always up for an adventure and I loved it when you would drag me along with you. You gave me courage to try new things and showed me spontaneity I never knew I had. Your gorgeous smile lit up the room and your laughter echoes in my ears to this day. You will be remembered most for you kindness and compassion towards others, forever putting them before yourself. Your mark on my heart will never be erased and you will be loved and missed always Rachel xoxo
