Genevieve Jessie Matheson May 6,1923 - June 25,2017

Mom passed away peacefully on June 25, the end of a long life lived to its fullest.

She was predeceased by her husband Alexander (Brud) Matheson.

She is survived by her sons Rod (Alyson), John (Joanne), and daughter Jean(Gord), grandchildren Stephanie, Andrew, Jennifer, Lesley , Kendrick, Mackenzie and great-granddaughter Elle.

She was the embodiment of one of her favorite mottos -

"never a dull moment".

She belonged to numerous organizations throughout her life, most notably the New Westminster YM/YWCA (President 1976-77), the American Quarter Horse Association (retired Director Emeritus 1994), Langley Home Support Service Society, and the Maple Beach Property Owners Association.

She was one of life's true characters. She was definitely remembered by whoever she met, wherever she went. She loved her family, loved life, and wasn't afraid to follow her passions. We will miss her greatly.

A Celebration of Genevieve's life will be held at a later date.

Gen was a loyal friend, mentor and fellow traveller as well as a passionate advocate of Canada and Canadian-bred Quarter Horses. We shared quite a few adventures together and I always appreciated her great sense of humour. We served together on the American and Canadian Quarter Horse Association Boards of Directors and Gen was always willing contributor. I will miss her and her tasty "appys" during happy hour.

One of the most powerful women I know. If there was something that needed handling and gen agreed, it was done. Gen believed in family and could talk about them for hours with stars in her eyes. My deepest thoughts go out to the family especially my friend Jean.

My sincerest condolences. Gen was committed, passionate and strongly dedicated to her family and her volunteer activities. She always spoke of her children and grandkids with pride. Sharing stories of their escapades and accomplishments, and taking great joy in her time spent with family. She made it clear how very proud she was of her clan. I'll always remember Gen with respect and fondness. Sorry for your loss.

Hi All my cousins. I just heard yesterday about Aunti Gen passing away. She was a real character, and kept us all busy during all the years> I especially remember the hikes to the clay cliff's. Having always been raised so closely with all of you, it has created some of my best memories, and I wish I could have known earlier, but I wanted to say to all of you how much you will miss her and my sympathy. Love Cousin Mo
