Craig Hauptman, 42, passed away from heart failure after battling polycystic kidneys on Dec. 9, 2007.
He was born on April 12, 1965. Craig was a wonderful husband and father.
He is survived by his wife, Stefanie, and two children, Cole and Kayla; mother, Jean Hauptman; and sister, Sheri Tarin. He had many friends.
Craig was active with his children playing baseball and soccer. He enjoyed motorcycle riding, boating, and skiing. He truly lived for his wife and kids and was the person who fixed everything for his friend and family. Craig had a passion for his 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air project (it will be completed in honor of Craig!).
Craig was extremely hard-working and loved, he enjoyed being with his friends and always would make you laugh. If he was here to say anything he would make two comments, "Don't worry I'll fix it," and "Let's have a barbecue; the party's at my house. I'll provide the smiles and fun times." Craig graduated from Chatsworth High School. He will be missed by all.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, at the Sonrise Christian Fellowship, 2350 Shasta Way, Simi Valley, CA 93063.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Cole and Kayla Hauptman memorial relief fund, Bank of America, CA6-239-01-01, 2717-A Tapo Canyon Road, Simi Valley, CA 93063, or in the name of Craig Hauptman, PKD Foundation (Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation), 9221 Ward Parkway Suite 400 Kansas City, MO 64114, Web site: http://www.pkdcure.org.

I am a baseball coach at West Hills Pony and happened upon the Santa Susana site looking for a tourney prior to the start of our spring season, when I discovered Craig's passing. I grew up a few blocks away from Craig in Chatsworth. As teenagers we were friends and often road our dirt bikes together up in the hills. Craig was always laughing and smiling. I am am happy that he lived his life to the fullest. I offer condolences to his wife, children, family and friends. It would be a privilege to offer complimentary private baseball lessons to the boys as I specialize in working with players 5-12 years old. Blessings Steven Garren

Although we've known the Hauptmans for about 10 years, our families grew closer over the past year with the kids being on the same soccer teams, going motorcycle riding, and even a few family vacations this past summer. We are blessed to have gotten to know Craig and be a part of his life. He'll be missed.

Craig will be deeply missed by us all. We are thankful for all the wonderful memories we have from family vacations, weekend trips, annual BBQs, and the occassional dinners at our favorite Mexican Restaurants. Craig was a wonderful husband, father, son, and friend and we are very blessed to have known him.
