Vance Edwards Obituary
Ventura, CA
Vance Patrick Edwards, a highly regarded member of the local sailboat racing community passed away in his sleep April 16, 2016 in Darrington, Washington, at the home of his Domestic partner, Janet Loyd. He was 62. He graduated from Ventura High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in mathematics at Pomona College. He operated a boat maintenance business, "Harbor Diving and Maintenance", out of Ventura Harbor, for many years. He was an accomplished sailboat racer. The famous Transpacific Race to Honolulu was among his many 1st place finishes. He is survived by his mother Betty Edwards; father Dr. PK Edwards, son Reid Edwards, all of Ventura; and sister Terrie Van Alen of San Rafael, CA and brother Craig of Kissimmee, Fl. Per Vance's request, internment will be at sea by private family service. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for May 21, 2016 noon to 3 PM at Ventura Yacht Club.

Mr. Vance was a long-time supporter of the Mono Lake Committee in Lee Vining. He was a member with us since the beginning of the organization in 1978. On behalf of the Committee, we'd like to offer condolences to Mr. Edwards's family.
