Charles Othene McLaury(1933 - 2014)

Our beloved Father, Grandfather and Friend, Charles Othene McLaury, died unexpectedly February 17, 2014.

Charlie began this earthly journey in Texas on July 29, 1933.

He served in the Korean Conflict as a Radioman (Navy) for the 1st Military Helicopter Unit. During his service, he received several commendations including the Presidential Unit Citation Medal, First Award.

Charlie's dad, Jerome was a "railroad man". Charlie followed in his father's footsteps and had a 44-year career with Southern Pacific Railroad as a Special Electronics Technician.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Dawyn Elaine Gaston McLaury.

He leaves behind his son Michael (Selena) McLaury, daughter Kim (Tom) Brittain, and son Richard Rodgers. Grandchildren Christopher Rodgers, Crystal (John) Brewer. Eric Anderson. Melissa (Scott) Kennedy and great-grandson Dillon Brewer.

From the Imperial Valley, to Cabazon and Ventura, Charlie made friends wherever he went-including a very special family of friends at Cypress Place. They will miss his cheerfulness and his "dance moves". They made his last years very special indeed.

We are still planning Charlie's Memorial Service and will announce the date and location in the near future.
