Lucy S. Hanley

Westlake Village, CA

Lucy Hanley was born in Russellville, AL on May 7, 1940 and peacefully made her way into the Lords hands on March 4, 2017 with her family by her side.

Lucy moved to Westlake Village in 1974 and for the next 40 years she dedicated her talents towards many community organizations such as United Methodist Church, National Charity League, Republicans Women's club and Westlake Village Garden Club among many others.

Lucy was a very loving and thoughtful Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, Cousin and a true friend to all. Her thoughtfulness and memories will all be with us where she brought much joy to everyone's hearts that she touched. She had such love for travel and spending time at the beach where she looked forward to the yearly vacation at San Clemente with her family. We were all so blessed to have such a vivacious and lively hearted woman in our lives where she will be so whole heartedly missed.

Lucy is survived by her husband Bruce and their children, daughter Julie married to Matthew Tupen and their children Emily, Trenton, Connor and Jake; Son Brett married to Margie and step father to Michella; and sibling Jan Glover.

All are welcome to join a celebration of Lucy's life at Westlake Village United Methodist Church (1049 Westlake Blvd) on March 25, 2017 at 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in her honor, to Westlake United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.

What a wonderful person! I especially knew her from National Charity League days. She was the greatest president! A hard act to follow! Lucy taught me a lot about life, and laughter, and doing her best for every commitment that she undertook. One evening, I tagged along to Pepperdine when she presented her "final" project for her MBA. It was so well researched and presented, that the instructor was flabbergasted in his response! That is the kind of person she was! Dear Lucy!

Friends since high school, Lucy and I moved to San Francisco from Houston together in 1960. We both eventually settled in Southern California, she in Westlake Village and I in Sherman Oaks not far from each other, and our families have enjoyed a special friendship to this day. Lucy was a treasure and will be deeply missed. Our condolences and much love to the Hanley, Tupen, and Glover families. -- Virginia & Aly, Safi and Nadia, Greg, Ethan & Owen

Lucy and I were best friends as teenagers. We lived very close to each other and spent many days and nights together. She was Maid of Honor in my wedding in 1961. I am so thankful that I reconnected with her at our 50th high school reunion. Condolences to her family.
