Ventura - Angela Lund, 84, of Ventura, California, passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 6, 2021. Angela lived a full life with her husband, Russell Lund. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Angela is survived by her husband and her four children, Jeanette Lund and her husband, Mike Rosario, Richard Lund, Maria Davis and Kathleen Campbell and her husband, Chris Campbell. She had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Angela was born Maria de los Angeles Gomez on October 16, 1936 in Mexico. Angela was one of seven. Her father passed when she was twelve and her mother raised the family on her own with the support of her extended family. Angela graduated high school in Mexico and was fluent in Spanish and English. In 1955, Angela was sponsored by the Rhodes family of Hermosa Beach to come live and work in California. Angela moved to California with her friend, Yolanda Hendrix. Angela worked as a processor for Bank of America.
In 1958, Angela met her to-be husband, Russell Lund. They were married on April 23, 1960. They moved to Torrance. In January 1965, they purchased their family home in Ventura after Russell accepted a position with the IRS. Ventura proved to be the perfect place to raise a family with four kids. Angela was active with the school, the church, and her children.
In 1990, Angela became an American citizen and voted for the first time. She continued language studies at Ventura College where she studied French. She loved gardening - and was especially talented with African violets. Russell and Angela traveled extensively around the world. Some of the highlights were the Great Wall of China, pyramids of Egypt, and an African safari. They loved traveling and cruising together (over 600 days!).
Thank you to the Ventura Grand Chateau and Hospice of the Valley staff. Their kindness has blessed the family with peace. Angela will be cremated by the Neptune Society of Santa Barbara. The family is planning a celebration of life in the future.
Angela will be dearly missed.
