Donald Medley of Camarillo, California passed away on August 26th, 2018.

Donald was born on September 20th, 1932 in Monroe, Michigan to Hugh and Nurnie Medley and had two brothers, Wilmer and Billy.

In 1956 he married Louise Spencer. Together they have three adult children ? Brian, Sherrie, and Tony ? as well as two granddaughters, and one grandson who is deceased.

Don was working with computers long before most people knew what they were, starting with the first UNIVAC at the Pentagon. He has since held numerous positions in business and education in this capacity. Don not only liked to teach he also liked to learn. As a working adult with three children he attained Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees.

His career includes being an instructor at Moorpark College, chair of the Information Systems Department at California Polytechnic University, Pomona, and Vice Chancellor of Information Systems and Research at the Ventura Community College District.

He was also a constant contributor to his community and profession. Joining, founding, and leading organizations including DPMA, The National Computer Conference (NCC) and Simi Valley Little League

After retiring from the Ventura Community College District in 1994, Don founded the VCCCD Retirees Association to encourage social interaction and facilitate contact amongst the group. His maintenance and publication of the yellow-covered Membership Roster supported this goal. Significantly, Don used this organization to protect retiree benefits.

Don had an active retirement, serving the Camarillo Kiwanis Club as president and lieutenant governor, championing many local community projects, particularly a handicap-accessible playground at Community Center Park. He also served regionally as secretary and key fundraiser, supporting the annual Kiwanis Rose Parade float.

Don was a deacon and longtime member of the Camarillo First Baptist Church.

Friends and family are invited to a memorial service Saturday, September 15th at 11 A.M at the Camarillo First Baptist Church at 1601 Temple Avenue, Camarillo, CA 93010.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in Don's name to the Camarillo Kiwanis P.O. Box 533 Camarillo California 93011. Please note "playground project" on the check.
