Elizabeth Ann Cobarruvias

Ventura, CA

Elizabeth Ann (78) passed away January 4, 2019 with her daughter Phyllis by her side after living with a cancer diagnosis since June 2018.

Ann was born to Alfonso and Paz Orrante March 28, 1940 in Ventura, CA. Ann grew up and attended schools in Ventura. On July 15, 1960 Elizabeth Ann married the love of her life Ed Cobarruvias. They were married for 54 years, until Ed passed away on December 3, 2014. A true love story. Those married years were full of family raising and traveling the world together, including their favorite spots in Spain, Italy, Singapore and always Hawaii. They couldn't just visit and be happy with that. There was always someplace they missed and had to make a return visit, always exploring! Ann was a stay at home wife and mother to Phyllis and Ted until her school volunteering turned into a paying job as a special education teacher's aide, she loved her job and the many special kids and teachers she had the pleasure to work with. Ann retired from the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools after 25 years of teaching. Retirement meant more time to explore with Ed! Ann loved creating, always busy hands! Gardening, sewing, crocheting, painting, drawing, arts and crafting in general, and for years submitted arts to the Ventura County Fair where she was always rewarded with red and blue ribbons and admiration for her talents. Elizabeth Ann was a member of the Channel Islands Gulls, a philanthropic ladies club active in fundraising for worthy causes in Ventura County.

Ed was cremated in 2014, and will be buried with military honors in the arms of his beloved Ann at the time of her burial on Friday January 11, 2019 at Ivy Lawn Cemetery Ventura, CA.

Ed and Ann leave behind Daughter Phyllis Zeman, son-in-law John Zeman, 2 grandsons John and Scott Zeman all of Ventura. Son Ted Cobarruvias of Ventura and granddaughter Cameron Cobarruvias of Port Hueneme.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Channel Islands Gulls in memory of Elizabeth Cobarruvias sent to P.O.Box 50126 Oxnard, CA 93031
