I hadn't seen Richard in a while, but every time I did he always had a big smile waiting for me. He was a sweetheart from the moment I met him. He was there for my mini-bachelorette party at Billy O's and he announced my wedding to everyone that night when my maid-of-honor sang Going To The Chapel. He was a great man and he will be missed dearly!

Dawn, you and the girls were the loves of Richard's life. He always refered to you as his "best friend" when we spoke over lunch at the HomeTown Buffett on Wednesdays the times you weren't able to be there. He had a great sence of humor, a great speaking voice, and I always enjoyed being in his company. I am SOOOO sorry about your loss. May the Good Lord bring all your family peace of heart.

I was a fellow classmate of Dicks at Santa Clara High and remember when he first started his musical career. It is with the greatest of sympathies to pass this on to his family.

My condolences to the Burns family. I didn't know Richard personally, but I never failed to attend the Roller Gardens when the Dartells were playing back in the '60's. Thanks Richard!

I was lucky enought to be related to Richard. He is married to my sister. Words can not explain how much my heart is broken. Sean and I will do everything we possibly can to make sure your three girls are always taken care of. But I bet you already knew that.

My beloved brother in-law. You will never be forgotten.

To Dawn and family, I sent you my love and pray for your strength to get you thru this unimaginable time. Having just lost my husband, Rick, to cancer 6 months ago, I do know what you are going thru and I'm so sorry that you have to go thru it. But you are not alone!! You and Richard had a multitude of friends and family to help you thru this.
I remember going to Roller Gardens and listening to the Dartell's and how adorable Richard was. He had the personality to match his wonderful smile and he will be sadly missed by so many of us.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and know that Richard 'Dick' Burns will be a welcome player in the Big Band in the sky..

I met Richard at BillyO's, but knew of him through Dawns Mom. I had alot of fun with Richard there, and talked to him while he was working. He was a great guy, loved his family and freinds, and wasn't afraid to tell you. He loved his work, which wasn't only about the music, but more about everyone having the best time they could have. A true entertainer. I won't forget you Richard. Until we meet again.

I met Richard at the old Wagon wheel Restaurant, (I liked his music so much, being from that era) that when Linda and I were married Richard played for hours at our wedding.

Linda and I will miss you dearly and our prayers go out to Dawn and the children.

I was shocked and very saddened to learn of Richard's passing. He and I go back almost 50 years to the dawn of rock & roll. Music has a way of attracting others of similar interests and he and I would get together after school almost every day to share our growing knowledge of the guitar. He went on to front one of the most successful bands out of Ventura County called the Dartells, which was an offshoot of a band I had started at Hueneme High School in 1960. In the late 60's Richard and I worked as a duo in and around Ventura County and I have fond memories of those days. My heart goes out to his beloved wife, Dawn and their cherished daughters. If you wanted to talk with him about something other than music, all you had to do was mention his girls! I will certianly miss him greatly, especially our chats on the phone and our online trivia tournaments. I'll bet he's jamming right now with Doug Phillips up in heaven. Love ya bro....
