S. C (Covey) Covington Obituary
S C (Covey) Covington

Ventura, CA

S C (Covey) Covington, was born Jan 14, 1925 in Blytheville, Arkansas, firstborn of James and Frances Covington and passed away with his family at his side on December 10, 2018 following a brief illness. With his entire family present, he was buried with full military honors at Riverside National Cemetery. Family always came first and he remained devoted to his family his entire life. God gifted him with a great singing voice and he sang weekly in a southern gospel quartet at his church during his teenage years. Later he sang at his social gathering and the weddings of multiple friends. He was humble, kind, loving, brilliant, and a war hero ? truly a member of the Greatest Generation. He enlisted in the army on his 18th birthday in 1943 and fought Hitler's forces in WWII. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery.

As a civilian, he worked in the aerospace industry for 33 years at McDonnell Douglas where he developed testing equipment for passenger airplanes including the first Douglas passenger jet, the DC 8. Besides being the sweetheart of his wife, Cora, for 72 years of marriage, he went by other names: Dad to his two children, Steve (wife Carol) and Pam (Goacher); Granddad to his five grandchildren, Michelle (Yacoel), Kim (Werkmeister), Geoff (Goacher), Heather (Williams), and Kelsey (Lambert) and Great to his ten beloved great-grandchildren with whom he developed a mutual adoration society. We all will miss him but have faith that we will join him again.
