Robert G. "Bob" Williams Jr.
WILLIAMS, Robert G., Jr. "Bob", age 89 formerly of Santa Rosa Valley, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 25th, 2020.
He was born July 1931 in the state of Vermont. He was the only son of Robert G. and Ruth E. (Blanchard) Williams, Sr. He lived most of his childhood in Vermont, then moved to Florida during his last months of high school, where he graduated from Hollywood Hills High.
Shortly after graduation, he enlisted into the US Navy in 1949, where he served 6 years on the USS Charles P Cecil (DDR-835) as a Radarman. After his service ended, Robert's love for the ocean and sun took him to the west coast.
Robert lived in Ventura while working as a printer at the Star Free Press, he then worked on the Rotogravure in North Hollywood creating and printing color ads for various southland newspapers.
Robert eventually met his wife Esperanza (Villa) and they celebrated 56 years of marriage falling just short of 57 years, which would have occurred this February. They had two children Chris and Felicia and then moved to Camarillo to farm oranges.
Robert loved his new passion of farming, but he had many other passions as well. He enjoyed camping with his family (especially when his children were young). He loved the ocean, so he bought a sailboat and often took his family sailing from the Ventura harbor. He greatly loved photography, which is represented by a sizable collection of antique cameras. He even developed his own pictures in his home-built darkroom. Bob was incredibly handy building things around his home. He always had new ideas and couldn't wait to try get started on projects.
Robert is a beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend. He is survived by his wife Esperanza Williams, his son Chris G. Williams and his fiancé Kym Malone, his daughter Felicia Williams-Garcia and her husband Saul Garcia. and several grandchildren: Marissa, Kylie &Tyler Williams, and Brian, Michael, Jessica & Nicholas Garcia.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13th, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Conejo Mountain Cemetery in Camarillo.
