Joseph L. "Joe" Ribeiro

Joseph "Joe" L. Ribeiro Longtime Tulare dairyman, Joe Ribeiro, passed away surrounded by his family at his home on November 23rd, at the age of 83. He was active in his shop and on the ranch until the last days of his life, as owner of "Rib-Arrow Dairy". Joe was born in Tulare on October 28th, 1929 to Joseph Coelho Ribeiro & Carbina Rocha Ribeiro. The eldest of three brothers, Leonel J. Ribeiro Sr. and the late Anthony "Tony" Ribeiro, he graduated Tulare High School, and played saxophone for the Redskins and the National FFA (Future Farmers of America) Band. He proudly served the United States Army in the 196th Field Artillery Battalion in Korea. Joe served on Dairyman's Cooperative Creamery Association Board of Directors for 26 years. Joe married his beloved Josephine Enos in 1956, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage before her passing in October 2010. "Josie & Joe" were active parents in their children's activities at school and with the Luso-American Club. Joe had a passion for motor sports that he shared with all. Together, with friends and family, he was highly involved with the Horseless Carriage Club and the One Trick Pony Truck Pulling Team. He was a dedicated volunteer for the World Ag Expo as well as the California Antique Farm Equipment Show. Joe enjoyed entering parades with the tractors and trailers he created. He was also a member of the Tulare Cabrillo Club. The family would like to thank the wonderful support of Optimal Hospice Care, and the caring staff of the Kaweah Delta Private Home Care. Special thanks to Eva Sandoval, Sharon Pendergram, Rosie Amick, Carrie Alvarado, Kristie Bueb, and Amos Santillan. The family appreciates their loving care and support during his illness. "Dad" will be missed by his three children: Theresa Fernandez & husband Jesse of Fresno, Christine Rubin & husband Robert of San Diego, and David Ribeiro & wife Donna of Tulare. Seven granchildren will miss their "Vo": Lauren & Eric Fernandez, Gregory & Matthew Rubin, Tyler Ribeiro & wife Jennifer (and his soon-to be great-grandson), and Cameron & Gabrielle Ribeiro. Joe's many cousins, nieces, and nephews will also miss him. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Miller's Tulare Funeral Home, 151 North "H" Street, Tulare, CA. Recitation of the Rosary will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 125 East Pleasant Avenue, on Monday, December 3, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection will immediately follow, with burial at the North Tulare Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Aloysius Building Fund, the Tulare First Baptist Church Building for Life Fund, or a charity of choice in his honor. Funeral arrangements will be handled through Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.
