David Maxfield Obituary

David Howard Maxfield

January 01, 1974 - May 25, 2017

Tulare

David passed away suddenly on May 25, 2017. He is survived by his wife Katie, his children Samantha Maxfield of Oregon, Wesley and Charlene of Tulare. Additionally, his parents Jim and Nan Maxfield, his sister Susan Maxfield, extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Raised in Tulare he attended local elementary schools, graduating from Tulare Union High School. As a young person he attended the Tulare United Methodist Church, played soccer, baseball, and ran cross country. As a teenager, he earned extra money breaking horses, leading him to volunteer both feeding and grooming horses used by Happy Trails Riding Academy in their early years. As a young adult he enjoyed horseback riding, motor cross, and eventually, ATV riding. Throughout his life he was a magnet for stray animals of every shape and size. His interest early in life for CB communication fueled his intense desire to become a truck driver. At age 21 he received his license, and began a career that took him cross country providing for countless stories of rain, snow, and interesting people he met along the way. He drove steady for 14 years with his last work at his favorite company Indian River, especially enjoying the regular trips north to Oregon and Washington. More recently, as it became increasingly difficult for him to drive and to be away from his family, he maintained contact with numerous friends he met through his travels, especially buddies in Florida, but never losing touch with his childhood friend Joe Langley of Oregon. The list of people who encouraged David throughout his life is endless. From dedicated teachers, to pastors, to coaches, to co- workers, friends, to family. All seem to appreciate his uniqueness, finding him straight forward, entertaining, admiring his capacity to overcome any challenge he encountered.

A graveside service will be held June 9, 2017 at North Tulare Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those choosing to honor David's life are encouraged to donate to Happy Trails Riding Academy, Tulare County SPCA, or a charity of your choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.

I remember David riding his big wheel when he came with Susie to my classroom. I also Remember Nan coming to be with me when I lost all my classroom things in a fire that took away my classroom. I have many memories of that time. I want to be there for her at this time. Bless you David you were taken much too soon.

Katie, Wesley, and Charlene..I'm so sorry for your loss! David's life was cut very short...I know that if he could come back here for just a moment ...he'd tell you all how much he loved you, and that Jesus is very real, to turn to Him for everything! Christ is all we will ever need...He is the ONLY way! John 14:6...Love you, and praying for you all every day!!
