Remembering my sister, Juanita and her mothering skills. She had 5 children in 10 years. 1944-1954.

She made all their clothes except the trousers. She sewed even the shirts for her husband and three sons.
She sewed dresses for herself and the two girls. There was no polyester. She did laundry on a wringer washer or at a Laundromat. She starched them, hung them on the clothesline to dry, sprinkled them, wrapped them up to saturate evenly, then ironed them. She cooked everything from scratch, and still found time to give her childrn attention, even playing games with them.
The most amazing thing to me, was that I personally never saw them dirty, and when they went somewhere, their shoes were freshly polished..

She was a devout in her religion and was a avid reader of the Bible and the study of the Bible. I loved her and will miss her greatly.

My Dearest Aunt Juanita, I am so happy for you that you are now in heaven singing praises around the throne. You will be missed greatly. Even though you were suffering a lot at the end you never failed to give me that beautiful smile every time I stopped by your room. Many may not know but over the past few years you managed to save some money and you would give that money to me telling me you wanted to share in my Ministry in helping other needy families experiencing hard times. Because of your generosity we helped to put food on the table and groceries in the cupboard of several families during the holidays. You helped to purchase warm clothing for children who didn't have any. Because of you many children had big smiles on their faces as Santa called their name and handed them their own gift. Thank you for your belief and trust in me and helping me to reach out to these awesome families. I enjoyed so much sitting and sharing with you the stories of each family we helped and you would cry right along with me. You were an awesome example of Jesus himself, you always looked for special ways to show love to others. You will always have a special place in my heart.
