Beulah D. Brown Obituary
Beulah D. Brown Beulah D. Brown of Visalia died peacefully of natural causes on December 13, 2012 at the age of 96. She was a caring, devoted, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Beulah was born in Glasgow, Kentucky on June 23, 1916 to Eugene and Victoria Coombs Drane and came to California by train at the age of four. The family settled in Yokohl Valley and Beulah lived there until she married Lester E. Brown on September 3, 1939. After the wedding, Les and Beulah moved to Visalia and the sale of her Pontiac Roadster enabled them to purchase Automotive Parts Company along with the L.R. Gist Family. This venture provided many travel, business, social and community involvements and opportunities for them. Beulah joined Beta Sigma Phi social sorority when a chapter was organized in Visalia in 1944. She was a very active member, serving every office, including President and also President of the area council. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Beulah joined the local Kaweah Chapter in 1975. She was appreciated by the members for her dedicated service. Beulah was a lifelong member of the Visalia Presbyterian Church. She served where and whenever she could demonstrating her giving, caring nature. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband Les Brown in August of 1985; her son, Robert Glenn Brown in October of 2010; her grandson Jeffrey Brown in July of 2010, and her sister, Julia Becker in May of 2009. Beulah is survived by her daughter, Janet Hill and husband, Clarence, her sister, Mary Meling of Ivanhoe and numerous nieces and nephews. Surviving grandchildren are Rebecca Sullivan and husband, James, Jennifer Johnson and husband, Todd, Michael Flynn and wife, Melodi and Trevor Flynn. Surviving great grandchildren are Mitchell, Lucas and Emma Johnson, Samantha Sullivan, Laird Broome and Charlotte Noel Flynn. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11 am in the Heritage Chapel at the Visalia District Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charitable organization of personal choice.
