Visalia - Elva Irene (Adams) Olsen was born to Harvey and Hester Adams on August 15, 1928 in Pomona, California. She was raised in Pomona, the youngest of five sisters. Elva graduated from Pomona High School in 1946 and attended Pomona First Baptist Church, where she met a young sailor named Robert Olsen on the church steps. They knew right away that they were destined to be together, and were married on June 16, 1946, seven months later. They made their first home in San Luis Obispo where Bob attended CalPoly and they were blessed their first son Gilbert. Cliff was born in Pomona, where Bob finished his undergraduate school. They later moved to Northern California, where Bob received his degree in veterinary medicine at UC Davis, and were blessed with son number 3, Robert Jr. Over the years, they also made their home in Lodi and Pomona, where two more sons, Paul and Mark arrived. Their move to Riverside, California found them in the citrus growing industry, where they also established Arlington Veterinary Laboratories. They later moved their business to Hemet, CA, where their family continued to grow through many beautiful grandchildren. In the mid-1980s, they moved back to the Central Valley settling in Three Rivers, and finally Visalia. Active in her church with Mops, Sunday school, Vacation Bible School and Stonecroft Ministries, Elva led a life full of family, friends and furry animals. Elva went to be with the Lord on August 8, 2018. She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert DeWayne Olsen, DVM and her five sons: Gilbert & wife Charyla, Cliff & wife Sherry, Robert Jr. & wife Teresa, Paul & wife Elisabeth as well as Mark & wife Alicia. She was a proud grandmother of 15- Cara, Aaron, Allison, Leslie, Stephanie, Robert III, Micaela, Terra, Ryan, David, Angela, Zachary, David, Jessica, Hannah and Rebecca. She was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, with more to come. Elva leaves her family with a beautiful legacy of selfless love, and inspiration.
