Glen Dale Blackmon

Visalia - 12/11/1942~08/07/2018

Glen Dale Blackmon, age 75, passed away on August 7, 2018 in Visalia, California. Glen was born on December 12, 1942 in Jessieville, Arkansas to Willie Ellis Blackmon and Vivion Thelma Miller Blackmon.

Glen grew up in Farmersville, California and graduated from Exeter High School. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy with his brother Billy in 1961. After serving in the Navy he attended College of the Sequoias where he met his future wife, Betty-Lee McDonald. He majored in mathematics and then transferred to Fresno State College where he earned a BA degree in Social Science and a teaching credential. He taught mathematics at Lincoln School in Lindsay and at Randolph School in Randolph, Vermont.

Glen married Betty-Lee in 1971 in Las Vegas, Nevada and they established a home in Northfield, Vermont. In November of 1972, the family moved back to Visalia, California. Glen went to work in construction and then worked at Early California Foods and Advanced Food Products (formerly Real Fresh). Glen was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church in Visalia for 45 years and was active in the church's Honduras Medical Mission from 2001 until 2010 when his medical conditions prevented him from long distance travel. He continued to support the missions through fundraisers and donations.

Glen dearly loved his sons, his grandchildren, great grandchild, his siblings, his nieces, and his nephews. He was raised in a close family of his mother, aunts, uncles, and their children. As an adult he considered himself to be a rich man and was always willing to share what he had with others in need.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Bobby Dean Blackmon. Glen is survived by his spouse Betty-Lee; his sons Glen Dale (Rene), Donald Gene (Cheryl) and Jeffrey Lee (Cindy) all of Visalia, his siblings Betty Jean Enlow (Hobart), Billy Dean Blackmon, and Dorothy Mae Head; grandchildren Elizabeth Elliott, Brandon Blackmon, Mya Bagley, Kaley Blackmon, Hannah Blackmon, Logan Bagley, Alyssa Blackmon, and one great-grandson Jaden Elliott.

Services will be conducted on August 16 at 10:30 am by St. Paul's Anglican Church at the First Presbyterian Church at 215 N. Locust in Visalia, CA.
