Mountain Grove, MO - Kenneth "Kenny" Gilbert, son of the late George Thomas and Anna Lee (Midwell) Gilbert, was born May 14, 1939, in Russellville, Arkansas, and passed away May 6, 2018, in Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mountain Grove, Missouri, at the age of 78 years, 11 months, and 22 days of age.

Kenny grew up in California. He joined the United States Army and proudly served his country. He married Fern Liles and seven children were born to this union. He later married Nita Reser on June 2, 1984 in Lemon Cove, California and he gained two daughters from this union. Kenny was a truck driver and was known all over the country by his CB handle, "Big K". He was a wheeler and dealer and was known all over the county for making picnic tables. People would come from all around to order them.

He loved his family. His kids and grandkids meant so much to him. Kenny and Nita had the pleasure of raising their grandson, Matthew, who was like a son to them. Kenny will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Besides his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by three sons, Randy Gilbert, Michael Gilbert, and Rebel Gilbert, and five brothers, Billy Gilbert, Eugene Gilbert, Gerald Gilbert, Danny Gilbert, and Bobby Gilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Nita Gilbert, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, four sons, Kenny Gilbert and his wife, Redona, of Sparta, Missouri, Donald Gilbert and his wife, Wava, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Ronald Gilbert of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Rocky Gilbert and his wife, Sherry, of Houston, Missouri, his grandson who was like a son, Matthew Jones of Farmersville, California, two daughters, Gina Osborn and Renee Jones, both of Visalia, California, a brother, Derald Gilbert and a sister, Anna Patterson, both of Visalia, California, twenty-one grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Kenny Gilbert was held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Prairie Hollow Cemetery, Mansfield, Missouri with Chaplain David Langston officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Lima Team of West Plains, Missouri and American Legion Post #30 of Mountain Grove, Missouri. Burial will be in Prairie Hollow Cemetery under the direction of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, Mountain Grove, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to American or Prairie Hollow Cemetery in care of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home, 315 N. Main, Mountain Grove, Missouri 65711.
