Lowell Whitfield Obituary
Lowell Whitfield

Tulare - Lowell Whitfield died August 6th, 2018 peacefully at his home in Tulare at the age of 76. He was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 16th, 1942, one of 8 kids. Born just after the depression, times were hard and work was scarce. He and his family lived in a tent and traveled from state to state picking fruit for a period of time, working alongside their parents William and Lucille Whitfield. As our upbringing shapes us, this hard work never stopped. If just one word described our Dad and Grandpa, it would be ambition. He was an entrepreneur to his core until his last day. It started with Whitfield Painting in the first 20+ years, then farming in Alpaugh, CA, harvesting, trucking, a dairy farm in Oregon, building 2 gas stations from the ground up in areas most wouldn't tackle and most recently growing Almonds. We remember the days he'd fly his airplane to check fields and on his way home swoop down, a flyby over the house, to let us know he'd be home soon. He will be missed by his family started with Diane Whitfield in 1962. Children, Tammy Gibson, Tandi Turner, Tiffin Groff and Matt Whitfield. Sons-in-law, Todd Lorenzo and Jeff Turner. Grandchildren, Tyler (Candice), Tanner (Whitney), Taylor, Dax, Cort, Lyndon, Brennan and Tristan. Great grandchildren, Tatum and Tyson. Those that knew Lowell, knew he never started a day without a trip to the coffee shop. No doubt there were lots of stories told about buying a ranch and moving to Australia over the past 40 years. Traveling there often, it was special for him. Per his wishes, this will be his final resting place. Arrangements are entrusted Miller's Tulare Funeral Home.
