Teacher David Glenn Grove, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Visalia on Thursday, January 28, 2010. David was born in Exeter, CA in 1927 moving numerous times before graduating from Long Beach High School. David attended and graduated from North Texas State University as a credentialed teacher. First, he was an instructor at Sheppard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. David married the love of his life Anna Lou Donley in 1952 and they celebrated 57 wonderful years together. In 1953, after moving to the Visalia area, David gained employment at the newly established Redwood High School where he touched and molded many individual lives into becoming productive citizens in our community and society. David obtained his Master of Arts Degree in Industrial Arts from Fresno State University. He was an instructor at the College of Sequoias for many years and continued teaching at COS even after retiring from Redwood High School in 1987. David was involved in numerous activities including but not limited to music, farming, athletics, fishing, eagle scouts, little league baseball, owned and operated the Mooney Grove amusement pare and was a long standing member of the Visalia United Methodist Church. David is survived by his wife, Anna and children Teresa Hopper of Ivanhoe, Jody Grove (Kari), Michael Grove (Jeanette) and Anita Grove all of Visalia. David was blessed with 8 grandchildren, Ryan Hopper (Shay) of Ivanhoe, Sara Bernard (Tony), April Doyle (Dennis), Jeremy Grove (Chrissy), Sara and Daniel Grove, Morgan and Tyler Grove all of Visalia. David's joy included 7 great grandchildren, Dyamond, Michael, Amelie, Emma, Fletcher, Caiman and Johnny. David celebrated and had a zest for life, living each day to the fullest. He was often found to be the life of the party with a quick wit and smile. David believed in hard work and was self disciplined allowing him to lead his family and friends down the right path of values and integrity. David will be remembered as a loving husband, father and mentor to all he had contact with and will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David's name to the Kaweah Delta Hospital Foundation located at 216 S. Johnson, Visalia, CA 93291. Condolences may be e-mailed to [email protected] Celebration of Life Service: Tuesday, February 2, 2010, 10:30 AM at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Reception will follow at the Visalia United Methodist Church. Visitation Monday, February 1, 2010, 4-7 PM at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Private burial at the Visalia District Cemetery.
