Joyce Ruth Pearson Joyce was born August 6, 1924 in Inglewood, California and passed away on October 18, 2013 at her home in Visalia. She attended schools in Inglewood and married Albert Pearson on November 26, 1942. They moved to Visalia in 1953 where Al established a business as an architect and builder and Joyce was a homemaker. Al passed away in 1991. Her children are David and Susan Pearson of Visalia; Ellen Logan of Visalia; Dennis and Barbara Pearson of Manchester, Iowa; and Philip and Linda Pearson of Lake Forest, California. She was also blessed with twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Ed Slepicka of Redding and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Edward and Barbara Pearson of Rancho Santa Fe. Joyce was involved in many volunteer groups. When her children were younger, she was actively involved with local and statewide PTA, 4-H, and KDDH Junior Volunteer program. She was President of the Kaweah Delta District Hospital Guild, and volunteered in the Intensive Care Unit and Cancer Patient Wing. For the she volunteer as the Resource Advocate for Patient Services, Patient Transportation, and Reach to Recovery program for 32 years. She was president for both the Junior and Senior Women's Club. In her later years, she volunteered in the office at St. Paul's School, where she was known as "Grandma" to many of the students. Joyce was recognized for her many years of service as Mrs. Visalia and runner-up for Mrs. California in 1956, Visalia Woman of the Year in 1978, ACS Volunteer of the Year in 1992, and received the California State ACS Quality of Life Award in 1995 and J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award in 1997. Joyce's greatest joys came from traveling with her family, especially a yearly trip to Catalina Island for the last 53 years, and working in her garden. She was an ordained minister in the Community of Christ Church since 1984. A "Celebration of Her Life" will be held at the St. Paul's School Chapel, 6101 Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA on Saturday, November 23 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to The , P.O.
