Attebury, Fredrick Grant Attebury, Fredrick Grant a 50 year resident of East China, Michigan, was 86 years old. In 1968, Fred moved from Champaign, IL to East China, MI where he took an assistant professorship at Wayne State University in the Art Education department. Fred loved teaching, and taught classes in Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Pottery, Wood and Metal Design, Animation, Computer Graphics, and Multi-Image Projections. In the '70's, Fred and his students were actively involved in the St. Clair Art Fair, demonstrating pottery & print making. Involved in the St. Clair community, Fred was on the Board of Education for the East China School district, where he pushed for swimming pools to be added to all the High Schools. He also coached Babe Ruth Baseball, winning the league championship with the Colts in 1973. In 1994, Fred retired to his home on the St. Clair River, where he and his wife Sandy enjoyed life tending his trees, swimming in the river, and visiting with friends, relatives, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He continued his involvement in Art Education and the arts by jurying High School Scholastic art exhibits, and jurying the St Clair Art Fairs for many years.
