(MCB-11 1967 TO 1969)
Father, Husband, Son, Uncle Mentor to MANY JACK OF ALL TRADES. A Lucerne Valley resident for 19 years, Charles was born in Patterson, NJ to Werner Zimmerman and Mary Lambert. He graduated Gilbert High School in 1961 and enlisted in the NAVY to serve in the MCB-11 battalion of the Sea Bees during the Vietnam Era. He moved to Center Point, TX in 2017 to be closer to his daughter, Bonny Jarrard. Known by many nicknames (Pappy, Poppy, Geppetto, Zimmy and many more), he will be remembered for his quick smile and quirky personality. With a brilliant mind, he would solve problems and was able to help many in the community. He was an avid 7-1/2" scale model train enthusiast in retired years, building railroad cars out of recycled materials from schematics that existed only within his mind that are enjoyed by many all over the country. Survived by his brother Richard Zimmerman; daughter Bonny Jarrard; son-in-law Glen Jarrard; grandchildren Brian Bloxson, Zoe Morgan Shepard, Jeremy Sumpter, Emma Byers, and Gwyndolyn Merritt; great-grandchildren - 5 boys and 1 girl; and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his parents Werner and Mary Zimmerman; twin sister Carol Dodge; wife Joyce Zimmerman; and daughter Sonja London. His journey in life made the stop at his passing moment in Center Point, TX before traveling forward to the eternal journey in Heaven. May he ride the rails with his wife Joyce and daughter Sonja forever, Amen. No services will be held at his request. In lieu of flowers, his wish is that his friends and family spend time together making memories that last a lifetime.
