Hazel May Travis
December 15, 1935
August 25, 2019

Hazel May Travis peacefully passed from Earth to Heaven into the open arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ the morning of August 25, 2019. Hazel was at home and surrounded by family at the time of her passing. While it saddens us all deeply to see Hazel leave this fleshly Earth, we find comfort in the fact that she knew the Lord was calling her home and find joy in the fact that she is now reunited with her Husband Bernie Roy Travis. Born to the late Herald Eugene 'Hade' and Leora Adeline (Harper) Farrell December 15th 1935 just east of the Home-place in Clearlake Community, Beaver County, Okla. Hazel spent her early youth assisting on the family farm and attended Twin Mound, Clearlake, and Laverne Schools. She graduated from Laverne School in 1953. Hazel May and Bernie Roy were married March 28, 1953 and celebrated 59 blissful years of matrimony being blessed by four children. Bernie and Hazel moved to the High Desert of California in 1956. Hazel entered the grocery industry working at Weldy's Market in Apple Valley, CA and went on from there to work for Food King, Winn-Dixie, and Safeway beginning 1977 and retiring 2004. Graciously serving as front end manager for both the Vons Stores at 7th & La Paz in Victorville, as well Main St & I Ave in Hesperia. Anyone who had joy of knowing Hazel from the grocery stores can attest to her loving and kind spirit. Hazel was always there to greet customers with an energetic and pleasant gesture. Hazel's steadfast work ethic was unrivaled, whether be it her work or her family, she gave every single ounce of herself all the time. Without a doubt – she was the best wife, best mother, best sister, best grandmother, and greatest great-grandmother ever of all time. Hazel May Travis was preceded in death by her Husband Bernie Roy Travis, her daughter Connie (Travis) Jones of Oklahoma City, OK, her son Jim (Wendy) Travis of Corona, CA, and her sister Doris Marie (Jim K.) Simmons of Athens, TX. Hazel is survived by her two sons, Ronnie (Doris) Travis of Lexington, OK, Jeff (Kim) Travis of Las Vegas, NV, and her little sister Oleta (Gary) Lemmons of Laverne, OK.; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Special thanks to Hazel's sister-in-law Judy (Russell) Travis of Shattuck, OK for being a wonderful caregiver. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, Apple Valley, CA.
