Lillie (Lil) Madge Schroeder

Lillie Schroeder passed away peacefully on March 22, 2021 at her home at the beautiful age of 101. She was born on a farm near Aladdin, WY on May 18, 1919.
Lil attended a rural school in WY, graduating from the 8th Grade. She attended 3 yrs of high school in Belle Fourche, S.D. before graduating her senior year from Phineas Banning High School in WIlmington, CA, in 1938. She married Theodore (Ted) Schroeder on Sept. 27, 1941, now deceased. They had 2 children, daughter Shirley (deceased) and son Kenneth.
Lillie worked at Harbor General Hospital in Torrance for 8 years, then in 1956, due to asthma, the family moved to Apple Valley, CA. She worked 17 years at the Apple Valley Country Club, and 12 years at the Victor Valley Hospital, retiring at age 68. Lillie then decided to start a new chapter of her life. She loaded up her 5th wheel, her dog and began traveling. She was an avid crafter, mostly crocheting. She was famous for her canned pickles, pies and apple jelly. She loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends, and the occasional trip to the casinos. She was an honorary member of Beta Sigma Phi, of which her daughter Shirley belonged.
She leaves behind, son Kenneth, 3 Grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.
A Celebration of Lillie's life will be held at 1:00PM on April 21, 2021 at Sunset Hills Memorial Chapel, 24000 Waalew Rd, Apple Valley.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the City of Hope, 1500 E Duarte Rd, Duarte, CA in memory of Shirley Cambridge.
