FANNON THOMAS J. FANNON "T.J." Thomas J. (T.J.) Fannon passed away peacefully at his home on November 19, 2013. Born June 17, 1930, T.J. was raised in Alexandria, VA where he attended St. Mary's Catholic School and Georgetown Prep. An all metropolitan selection in football and basketball as a member of St. John's High School (D.C.) class of 1948, he went on to college at the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1952. After serving in the United States Air Force, T.J. was employed for the duration of his career at Thomas J. Fannon and Sons, Inc., a heating and air conditioning business founded by his grandfather. In addition to serving as the firm's third generation presi- dent, T.J. was dedicated to many local charities and organizations, serving on the board of Alexandria Hospital and as a past president of the Alexandria Rotary Club. When not involved in his business or philanthropic work, he enjoyed skiing, sailing, bicycling, and hiking in various destinations around the world. He is predeceased by his wife, Susan Dau Fannon, and survived by four children, Thomas Jensen Fannon of Springfield, VA, Susan Burroughs, Jack Fannon, and Sarah Revers of Alexandria, VA, as well as 16 grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ellen Feeney and Dorothy Markham, and his brother, Francis H. Fannon III. A visitation with family will be held at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock RD., Alexanddria, VA, on Friday, November 22 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on November 23 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 310 S Royal St. in Alexandria. Memorial contributions may be made to Inova Alexandria Hospital, Senior Services of Alexandria, Capital Caring Hospice, and the Rotary Foundation. I first met Mr. Fannon when Jack and I were at Notre Dame together. I remember vividly how much he enjoyed life, loved Notre Dame and most importantly loved his family. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family. God Bless.
