Dr. Auxter was a professor of national recognition in the field of Health and Physical Education. As an educator, he prepared teachers to apply methods to reach every student at their levels of development. In addition, he was a staunch advocate and voice, at the highest levels in government, for persons with disabilities.

Dr. David Auxter's efforts influenced state and national public policy. His philosophy of education shaped modern-day teaching approaches. He possessed a lively spirit, an intellect and a good soul that was reflected in all that he accomplished. Many benefited, not only because of his time and talents, but also from his generous heart, courage and commitment.

Life will go on, but there will be a void that will never be filled with such affection and devotion for the welfare of others that he possessed. He was my mentor. His legacy will be more long lasting than anyone can ever imagine.

I extend my sympathy to the Auxter family for the loss of your father. I am grateful to him for being such an influential part of my life. I will always remember Dr. Auxter with warm regard.
