Cheryl Linn Fuentes, 52, of Alexandria passed away peacefully in her home on September 4th after more than a four year battle with breast cancer. She played a critical role in implementing teacher and parent education programs over her 25 years of employment in Arlington County Government. She was a loving and devoted mother, wife, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Cheryl was born on December 31st, 1965, in Bay City, Michigan to Albert and Judith Greniuk.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Alfredo M. Fuentes; sons, Victor and Alfredo and daughter, Christina. Her siblings Cynthia Luczak, Kristal (John) Wioncek, D.D.S., Albert Greniuk Jr. (Carol McIlwain), and Holly Joshi. Nieces and nephews Matt and Megan Luczak, Katrina and Elena Wioncek, Tyler McIlwain, and Adriana Huezo Fuentes.
She is preceded in death by in-laws, Maria Julia Fuentes, Medardo Huezo Fuentes, Guillermo N. Huezo Fuentes, Guillermo, Victoria Fuentes, Jose R. Fuentes, M.D., and Douglas Luczak; and her father, Albert Greniuk Sr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, Old Town Alexandria, VA. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Alexandria, VA at 11 a.m. on Tuesday September 11, followed by burial at Ivy Hill Cemetery. Please visit
