Earl P. Hamilton, Sr., departed this life on August 24, 2018. Born in Altoona, PA, he was a military retiree, serving his country as an NCO in the US Air Force for over 20 years and continuing to serve as a civilian until his final retirement in 1989. Mr. Hamilton was a former Commander of VFW Post 5471 in Ft. Washington, MD, a graduate of Prince George's Community College and a 50 year parishioner of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Preceded in death in 1986 by his beloved wife, Lula F. Hamilton, his legacy will be carried on by his children: Patricia A. Hamilton of Takoma Park, MD; Debra H. (Kenneth) Schoening of Syracuse, NY; JoAnn M. Hamilton of Washington, DC; Pamela H. Neferkara of Portland, OR; Earl P. (Traci) Hamilton, Jr. of Tampa, FL; and Peter J. Hamilton of Ft. Washington, MD; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. A Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, September 8, 2018 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4275 Fourth St. SE, Washington, DC. Viewing at 10 a.m.; Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made in Mr. Hamilton's memory to St. Thomas More Church and will be used to support ministries such as the food pantry and school. Arrangements: JB Jenkins Funeral Home.
