Of Charlottesville, VA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 92. Survived by wife of 66 years, Donna Parson; brother, Harold; children, Gail and Ron; and grandchildren, Rebecca, Christina, Kyle. Eagle Scout, scholarship to Marion Military Institute, Alabama. West Point graduate 1944. Forward artillery observer 69th Infantry Div, Belgium, Germany, Remagen, met Russians on the Elbe. Brought German rocket scientists to U.S.; wrote Missiles and the Revolution in Warfare; Korea, commanded Army's first nuclear-armed missile battalion. Commanded 3rd Armored Div Artillery, Germany. Vietnam 2 tours. Silver Star, four Bronze Stars, two Legions of Merit. Retirement Washington, VA, farmed Christmas trees, treehouse for grandkids, ran off bears, built stone walls, hosted 15 Easter sunrise services. Wrote The Compleat Journal of Landon Vickers. Christ is his Lord and Savior. Memorial service, Saturday, June 1, 2 p.m. Westminster Canterbury, 250 Pantops Mountain Rd., Charlottesville, VA 22911. Interment, September at Arlington National Cemetery.
