Dear Patty - I was so saddned to learn from Linda Neuman, retired NSF, about Bob's death. Please accept my condolences. In reading his marvelous obituary, I was reminded of our mutual Peace Corps connections, an institution that we both admired so very much.

Patty and Family- I was so deeply sorry to learn of Bob's death. No one who ever worked with Bob will forget his determination, loyalty and wisdom. Elizabeth and I spend time yesterday recalling our early years in DC, Bob's courtship of you, and some wonderful times with Bob, you and friends whom we know are with you now. The memories are all so important, especially at a time like this, and we will always hold them precious. Our love to you and the children. John and Elizabeth Cotton

Dear McNamara Family:
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this sad time.
Bob was a brilliant, kind and caring man with great integrity. I truly enjoyed working for Bob at CEC. Bob was a very considerate boss and mentor and a great friend. I loved his stories about his family and his wonderful sense of humor. Bob touched a lot of lives and made the world a better place.
May you have many blessings and find comfort in knowing how much he loved you.

Bob and I worked together at CIA in the late 1990s, and I was always glad when out paths crossed thereafter, including in the past year. Bob stands out in my memory for his professional responsiveness, personal warmth, unfailing good humor, and instinctive generosity. He had an Irish way of making others feel good about themselves. Easily loved, he will be deeply missed. I am grateful to have known him.

Peace to All: I knew Bob when we were both Assistant U.S. Attorneys in D.C. He was a prosecutor who did the right things for all the right reasons. He cared about fairness, civility, and protecting the community. Bob was a man who had a thoughtful view of whatever came before him. I will miss his wry sense of humor and his friendship.

Bob was a brilliant, wise and deeply ethical lawyer, and a stand up kind of guy. He knew the connection between policy and legal issues, and he served his clients loyally and vigorously. He was a great boss and mentor and friend. The world is less bright with his passing.
I wish his family peace and love in dealing with their loss.

Dear McNamara Family; I have searched for the words to convey how it feels to lose such a good man, and I simply cannot. Bob was brilliant, nurturing, and honest. He was respected by all and feared by those who should have feared him. He had a wonderful balance of gravity and humor, and knew when to use each. He demanded excellence in others and modeled it for those who needed mentoring. My life is better for knowing him. He loved you all and never tired of sharing stories. I wish you had been given more time together. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

My condolences to the family. I met Bob about five years ago at the Career College Association. We served on the board together. His contribution on Legal Committees was significant. Further, Bob spoke his mind and made us a better association because of it. His volunteer work over the past year or so was illustrative of his heart and his desire to give back. He certainly will be missed but also will be fondly remembered.

Dear McNamara family: I am so very sorry for your loss. I would never have been able to repay Bob for all he did for me over the years in my career at CEC or as my mentor and friend. He was beyond kind to my son and my son was very fond of Bob. Bob was for me one of the best men I ever knew. I recently posted Bob's career accomplishments and obituary on Facebook as a memorial to him. I knew he was accomplished in his career, but I wanted to share just how accomplished he was. All those accomplishments were nothing compared to the man I knew him to be. He loved you all very much and spoke of you all the time. I already miss him terribly. My heart is broken. You are in my thoughts and the thoughts of so many. I pray for peace for you all. God bless you all.

Dear Patty and Family:
Bob was a brilliant, talented and kind lawyer; I learned so much from him when he served with me at the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in the 1980's. I saw Bob in 2008 at Suburban Hospitable where he so generously volunteered his time. Bob was a real "mensch," a stand up guy, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Our prayers go out to you and his children, and we hope that you find comfort in the warmth of his memory.
Peace, comfort and blessings to you all.
