JULIAN SAVAGE  
February 25, 1919 - February 17, 2012  Julian Savage was a native Washingtonian. A major in the US Army, Julian was drafted as a Private in 1941, and was promoted to the rank of Major in 1945. He received three battle medals in WWII for the North Africa Theater, European Theater, and the Italian Campaign. As a CPA, Julian was asked to return to the US to work in contract terminations. Both a lawyer (he was admitted to the bar of The Supreme Court of the United States) and a practicing CPA, he ultimately became a very successful businessman, and enjoyed a long and fruitful career in the hotel industry - developing Holiday Inns in the 1950's in the early stages of America's motor inn phenomena. He went on to develop 50 Holiday Inns over the years. He was active philanthropically, and served as Treasurer for The Prevention of Blindness Society/Washington DC in the 1970's. He leaves behind a loving legacy of his wife Nancy of 63 years, plus children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
