I miss you so much, I would not want you to feel this way.

Shirley Short-Lewis,

July 12, 2011

I received a call last night 7/10/2011 from Ms. Darlene after she received a voice mail lefted on my friend and her husband cell phone wishing him a happy Birthday June 27th. Bratt and I did not talk that often but after meeting him when he working at BNA and finding out that our Birthday was on the same day. Every year we made it a point to touch base with each other just to say happy Birthday! My mother past away last year in June and was laid to rest 1 week before both of our Birthday last year. Bratt called me several time to see how I was doing or just to give me encouraging words. I would always remember him during the holiday season by sending the family a XMAS card and would always receive one back. I can only think now that I wished that we had made it a point to talk more. Because finding out that my friend was laid to rest 7 months ago and I didn't even know it, is definitely not a pleasant feeling. We can't know why some things happen...but we can know that love and beautiful memories outlast the pain of grief. And we can know that there's a place inside the heart where love lives always...and where nothing beautiful can ever be forgotten. If I've learned anything down through the years, it's that nothing beautiful in this world is ever really lost-Those we cherish will always live on in memory. With My Deepest Sympathy. Ms. Darlene thank you so much for calling me to let me know. Now I can stop calling his phone wondering why I didn't hear from Bratt this year on our Birthday, after leaving him a voice message on his cell phone saying Happy Birthday! this year.

Belatedly I would like to extend my sympathy to the Bowman family. My memories of Brett are that he was always an upbeat, fun-loving individual with an infectious smile(you chose a great picture). I hadn't seen much of him since the days of our youth but I still have fond memories of our No. 9 Boys Club days. My God bless the entire extendedd family. Take care of yourselves Reds and John.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

My deepest sympathies to Darlene Bowman and family. It was 19 years ago that I met Bratt, Artie and you. One of the greatest things to happen to me. I never would guess that I would adopt a new family. Thank you Bratt for the good times. Your singing, kindness, attitude and great spirit will be miss but never forgotten. May God continue to bless your family.

January 4, 2011

I send my deepest sympathies to the entire Bowman family for their great loss. Sensei Bowman was a gentleman of the first order and an accomplished martial artist. His attitude and good humor were infectious and brought out the very best in those karate students entrusted to his care. In every dojo there is a special person who is always remembered for his effort, kindness, and desire to help others - in Kyoshi Welch's dojo that person was "Brat" Bowman. May he rest in peace in the presence of the Lord.

Sincerely,

Darlene and family,

My prayers are with you guys.

I can remember when you and Bratt first met. He thought the world of you and you the same. Through out the years those feelings never changed. Cherish all the memories, I know that will put a smile on your face. Be blessed that God put him in your life and he became your friend/husband. You all were able to spend some wonderful years together.

I have open arms to you and the family. I'm just a phone call away.

You know Bratt was my brother from another mother. I love both of you.

Be assured that he is resting at peace with the Lord.

RIP my brother/friend job well done...

It's never an easy time, when we lose someone we love.
Our hearts are heavy, we are filled with grief,
Sometimes it seems, there is no relief.
But God in His infinite power, whispers softly in our ear,
That He is our sustainer and He will wipe away each tear.
