We staff and students os Warwick High School were fortunate to have Coach Milt Drewer as our head football coach during the 1953 - 1955 school years. He was a man of character and strong work ethic and discipline. Through his leadership and knowledge of football, he promoted team spirit, unity, a desire to excel, and never give up. Not only a coach but as a teacher, he imparted to us students the importance of self discipline, hard work, and that dreams only become reality if we are will to put in the effort. More importantly, he set the example of what he espoused. We all were the better for having known and learned from Coach Drewer.

Milt hired me as the Sports Information Director at William and Mary in 1961. He was an inventive coach, creating the "Rocket T." Although the wins were not as many as he wanted, his leadership qualities launched an impressive banking career. Milt was a great host and never forgot his friends. Alan, I am sorry that I lost touch with him in recent years. He had a long and storied career and we will miss a true personality in the sports and business world.

Dear family of Coach Drewer:
I served with Milt on the Board of Visitors at the College of William and Mary during the late 1970s. Although we often disgreed on policy issues - I appreciate the fact that one always knew where you stood with him. And after the discussions of the day were over - there were lots of stories and laughs over a meal and drink. My thoughts are with you, Alan and your siblings...
Respectfully,

I was so sad to learn of Mr. Drewer's death. I owe my career as a banker to him. He inspired me to make banking my career, and was responsible for my relocation to Winchester, Virginia almost 30 years ago. I well remember when I was asked by Don Collins, Regional President, to come to Winchester and the beautiful Shenandoah Valley as senior lending officer. Mr. Drewer visited with me and told me that he didn't really want me to leave Tyson's Corner, but knew that I would do a good job for the bank wherever I was, and that if I wanted to relocate to Winchester, he would let me go with his blessing. I have never regretted that decision and have made Winchester my home ever since. Mr. Drewer was always very good and generous with me, and I owe so much to him. I pray that his kind and caring spirit will be rewarded in eternity! God Bless You, Mr. Drewer!
