Rev. Msgr. RALPH J. KUEHNER (Age 93)
Beloved priest of the Archdiocese of Washington, died on Thursday, October 12, 2017. For more than 20 years, Father Kuehner served at Saint Francis of Assisi Church in Derwood, MD. He is survived by his brother, Edward; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends may call at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 6701 Muncaster Mill Road, Derwood, MD on Sunday, October 15 from 3 to 7 p.m. with Vigil Mass at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church celebrated on Monday, October 16, at 10:30 a.m. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. I was really shocked to hear about the demise of our dear Very Rev. Msgr. Ralph Kuehner. He was a great friend and a long time friend to me. He was such wonderful person, so soft spoken and very kind at heart and concerned with the problems and difficulties of all the people on earth. He did a lot for helping many poor people. He used to share with me all that he was able to achieve and accomplish on behalf of the poor people, homeless people, I lost a very dear friend. May the Lord reward him abundantly for all his great and most faithful work for the Glory of God and for the good of many, many people!

"Father Ralph" was a valued member of our Red Top Road neighborhood when I was growing up. He was very popular with us kids. We were drawn to him for both his gentle demeanor and his wonderfully scary ghost stories that always ended with a comforting thought. He was such a force for good in the Metro Washington area, indefatigable in his efforts to serve God by serving his community. RIP, Father Ralph - you have more than earned it.

Msgr. Kuehner, God rest your soul and blessings on you for your part in the C-J Dialogue of which I was a part of from 2002 but which you and Rabbi Haberman founded some 40 years ago. I purchased your autobiography and your book on the last words of Our Lord. Thank you for your edifying example in the Catholic Church and in inter-religious dialogue. I am sure you and Rabbi Josh are meeting in Heaven even now.

Father Ralph was a long time family friend going back with my mother Lois and her good friend Eleanor Loeffler. I remember as young boy visiting his family home in East Scranton. Later He concelebrated at our wedding in Avoca and gave the blessing at our reception. Condolences

Msgr Ralph married Jean and Leonard 9-23-1967 and we were able to see him on 9-10-2017 and we enjoyed our visit to this holy man. God bless him.
